A pregnant woman is in a serious condition after a rottweiler fell on her from 30ft above, in the middle of the street.
The incident took place on a road in Rome, Italy, on Friday, October 27. The unnamed woman, 28, was rushed to hospital following the accident.
But according to local reports, she is expected to make a recovery. The animal died in the street “after more than an hour in agony” following its fall from a third-floor balcony, according to Rome newspaper Il Messaggero.
Witnesses said the animal made a gunshot-like sound when it fell to the ground.
Its owner has been left devastated, saying she didn’t notice a thing when the animal fell.
The reason for the fall has not yet been confirmed but police are looking to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident in the coming days.
Some have suggested the dog fell while in pursuit of a cat in the apartment.
On average, a female rottweiler weighs between 35kg-48kg, while a male can weigh as much as 50kg-60kg.
