But after the Florida Governor failed to speak on the reports, advisers and backers have fumed about his lack of loyalty to Trump.
Senior adviser and former Gettr CEO Jason Miller asked why DeSantis and former Ambassador Nikki Haley are yet to weigh in.
After thanking Mike Pence, who said reported plans to indict Trump over alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels “is deeply troubling to me”, Miller noted the “radio silence from Gov. Ron DeSantis and Amb. Nikki Haley”.
Sebastian Gorka, former Deputy Assistant to Trump, said briefly on Truth Social: “So is DeSantis going to say anything? Curious.”

While not choosing to criticise DeSantis, presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said a “Trump indictment would be a national disaster” and called on the Manhattan District Attorney “to reconsider this action”.
Despite a growing rift between Trump and the Republican Party, with previous reports suggesting the GOP wants to move on, House speaker Kevin McCarthy voiced his support for the former President.

He said a possible indictment would be “an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance” against Trump.
McCarthy added he would direct relevant Republican-led House committees “to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions”.
It comes after Trump himself claimed he will be arrested on Tuesday in a tirade on Truth Social.
In his posts on Saturday morning, he raged against “illegal leaks from a corrupt & highly political Manhattan District Attorney’s office”.
The 76-year-old said that “with no crime being able to be proven, & based on an old & fully debunked fairytale”, he will be detained in two days.
“Protest, take our nation back!” he told supporters, in what will give some flashbacks to the 2021 rally dubbed ‘Stop The Steal’ which led to the storming of the Capitol.
Daniels claimed she and Trump had sex, and that she accepted $130,000 (£100,000) from his former lawyer Michael Cohen before the 2016 election in exchange for her silence on the encounter.
Former Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Trump’s protest call is “reckless” in a statement.
“He cannot hide from his violations of the law, disrespect for our elections and incitements to violence,” she said.
