Rishi Sunak's 'secret pact' with EU to ensure Tories deliver Rwanda small boats plan

Rishi Sunak is secretly working with EU leaders to overturn rules so the UK can send migrants straight to Rwanda, it has been reported.

The Prime Minister is plotting to join forces with Italy’s Prime Minister Italy’s Giorgia Meloni so he can enact his plan, reports The Sun.

He also wants to get together with leaders in Austria and Spain to rewrite the European Court of Human Rights charter that is currently preventing the Rwanda scheme.

The leaders hope by doing so they will gain the legal cover to be able to send the illegal migrants who arrive in their countries to other countries for processing.

The move comes after the Supreme Court ruled the Government’s plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda was unlawful.

But defiant Rishi Sunak vows he will take on anyone blocking his policy to fly illegal migrants to Rwanda.

The PM said he and the public were losing patience with a “merry go round” of legal obstacles to the plan.

He said: “We’ve got to get the Rwanda plan up and running. I will do whatever it takes to make that happen.

“People are sick of this merry-go-round. I want to end it. My patience is wearing thin.”

Mr Sunak pledged he’d introduce emergency laws and end the small boats crisis.

In a direct challenge to Sir Keir Starmer and opponents in the Lords, the Prime Minister said the Government will sign a treaty with Rwanda and declare it to be safe for deported migrants.

Mr Sunak said: “People just want the problem fixed. That’s what I’m here to do and this year we’ve already got the numbers down by a third.

“We’re getting [migrants] out of hotels, saving taxpayers money.

“People can see that I want to get this thing done but in order to finish the job we need to get Rwanda up and running.

“We can pass these laws in Parliament that will give us the powers and the tools we need.

“Then we can get the flights off and whether it’s the House of Lords or the Labour Party standing in our way, I will take them on because I want to get this thing done and I want to stop the boats.”
