Rishi Sunak blasted for buying six boxes of 'p***' mince pies for frontline workers

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was spotted buying boxes of mince pies for frontline workers today in a move which has been branded a “PR stunt.”

Mr Sunak was filmed in M&S Food in King’s Cross Station today, where he was seen walking the aisles. He picked out and purchased six boxes of mince pies. They were bought to be handed out to key workers, according to Sky News.

Mr Sunak then went back to his constituency of Richmond in North Yorkshire. He is expected to stay with his family until Christmas Day.

Users on X (formerly Twitter) criticised him for what they called a “PR stunt” in the run up to Christmas. One said: “Not sure what’s worse, the PR stunt or thinking people would want mince pies.”

Another said: “Utterly pathetic. Perhaps some of the public are as thick as mince and sit there cooing over the multimillionaire prime minister handing out a few boxes of p*** mince pies to key workers as he runs the country into the ground.”

Mr Sunak will go into 2024 with the weight of keeping the Conservatives in power broadly aceoss his shoulders. Bookies have pipped the party to win at an average of 1/8.

Polls also show the Labour Party is ahead with YouGov reporting voting intentions for Labour at 44percent and the Conservatives at 25percent.

This comes after Rishi Sunak confirmed that there would be a general election in 2024, putting rumours that it would be in early 2025 to rest.
