Republic condemned for staging 'sick' anti-royal protest on Queen's death anniversary

Anti-monarchy protesters have chosen to stage a protest outside Buckingham Palace later today in a “sad and heartless” attempt at using commemorations of the Queen’s death to push their political agenda.

ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship tweeted an advert from the #NoMoreRoyals stating the group planned a “rally to mark a year of Charlie’s Reign” and to “no more royals”

Writing about the stunt Chris Ship tweeted: “One feature of the new reign of Charles III has been the increasingly visible and noisier campaign for the UK to become a republic.

“Today, on Accession Day, those who want the Monarch replaced by an elected head of state will protest outside Buckingham Palace.”

People on X, formerly known as Twitter, were quick to condemn the rally, with one commenting: “How sad and heartless to stage this on the anniversary of #HMTheQueen death”

Another posted “Really? Today, Shame on you”, and they were joined by a chorus of others decrying the choosing of the today’s date, with one person saying: “Such contemptible behaviour on the anniversary of the death of a lady who dedicated her life to serving our people will not end well.”
