Remains of Brit woman, 79, who has been missing for a month discovered in Cyprus

Remains of a British 79-year-old woman have been found by a farmer in Cyprus, police confirmed. The remains include a skull and bones along with some other belongings and after investigation, authorities found that they belonged to a British woman who had been missing for over a month.

The findings were located near the coastal village of Yeroskipou.

Ann Naisbitt, who had been reported missing from her Paphos home in early April, was identified as the individual to whom the remains belonged.

The investigation team also recovered clothing and a silver necklace featuring a heart pendant at the site.

By cross-referencing these items and consulting missing persons records from the past decade, authorities were able to confirm the identity of the remains.

The Mirror reported that Ann had previously gone missing about a year ago, but was found promptly.

Following the tragic news, condolences from across the island were extended to Ann’s family.

A page called ‘Ask Anything Cyprus’ wrote: “It is with great sadness we report that the missing lady Ann Nesbitt has now been found.

“May she Rest in Peace and our sincere condolences go out to her family and friends.

“Thank you to everyone on here who took the time to help the family and search for her over these past weeks.”

One person, Bejay Browne, responded to the post, writing: “My thoughts are with Ann’s family and friends.

“We had all so been hoping she would be found alive, hadn’t we? RIP.”

Val Elsdon, claiming to be a close friend, wrote: “Such sad news. I knew Ann from 10-pin bowling every Thursday… always smiling.

“My heart goes out to her son and all the family.”
