Reform's Richard Tice lays into 'sinking Sunak' and explains how UK can save £150bn a year

Anti-woke party Reform have become the first to publish their general election plans as leader Richard Tice warned the nation faced an “existential” threat.

He set out radical policies including tax cuts, reforming the NHS and getting thousands more police on the streets.

Measures will be funded by saving £150 bilion a year currently “wasted” on policies such as the move to “net zero” carbon emissions and massive interest payments on the UK’s debt by the Bank of England.

Speaking at Reform’s spring conference in Doncaster, he slammed the Tory government led by “sinking Sunak” and warned of “Starmageddon” if Labour gained power with Sir Keir Starmer as Prime Minister.

Mr Tice said he was publishing a “contract” with Britain instead of a traditional manifesto. He said: “We’re the first people out of the blocks with this contract”

He hailed the party’s recent by-election results, with nearly 3,919 votes in Wellingborough and 2,578 in Kingswood, as “our best two by-elections” so far.

Mr Tice said: “The country’s absolutely broken. You’re angry, I’m angry.

“The emails I get from people is incredible. People are steaming mad at what’s happened to our beloved country. But I believe we can turn it round.”

He said the UK was spending far more than it could afford, saying: “It’s an existential threat.”

Reform, he promised, would slash unnecessary spending and use the money to cut taxes for working people, recruit more than 30,000 extra police officers and increase health spending by £17 billion.

People who could afford to use private healthcare would be encouraged to do so in order to reduce pressure on the NHS, he said.
