Red alert for Taylor Swift lovers as scammers dupe fans with fake Eras UK tour tickets

Taylor Swift fans have been put on red alert after scammers duped the pop star’s supporters into buying fake tickets.

Devoted followers of the 33-year-old are excitedly awaiting her 2024 UK Eras tour, with the American singer set to perform at venues in Liverpool, Edinburgh and Cardiff before ending in London on August 20.

People have been desperately trying to buy tickets as concerts quickly sold out, with the tour expected to make $1billion.

But fraudsters have sought to capitalise on fans’ eagerness to see the beloved songwriter by trying to sell fake tickets in a series of scam posts across Facebook.

Suffolk Trading Standards warned that it was aware of posts from dodgy sellers claiming “they have tickets that were ‘panic bought’ or now have ‘conflicting commitments’”.

Trading standards officers warned people to “only buy tickets via the official resale websites”.

Some fans have already lost thousands of pounds as fraudsters seek to trick Swifties across the globe.

According to The Canadian Press and CityNews Ottowa, the Canadian capital city’s police department has witnessed a hike in reports of fake ticket sales.

Based on the police’s investigation, scammers have taken around $12,000 (£9,551.52) of peoples’ hard-earned cash.

Officers from the country’s OPS Fraud Investigation Unit said it was a “buyer-beware situation, and residents need to be smart about how they shop online”.
