Real reason Prince Harry's reconciliation with Royal Family could take 'years'

Any possibility of Prince Harry being welcomed back into the Royal Family could take “years”, a royal expert has said.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior royals at the start of 2020 and, ever since, have launched various attacks in television interviews, a bombshell docuseries and shocking memoir.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Royal Report, Newsweek’s royal correspondent Jack Royston told listeners that we shouldn’t expect reconciliation between Harry and the royals any time soon due to one key reason: a lack of trust.

Mr Royston said: “Charles and William, I’m sure, will view Harry as having persistently betrayed them on multiple occasions over several years, including during times of grief, such as when Prince Philip died or when the Queen died.

“So obviously, they’re not going to just completely forget about all of that straight away and go from open warfare one minute to innate implicit trust the next… But none of that means that Harry’s olive branch is an error or a mistake.”

Speaking of Harry’s former bond with his father, royal author Ingrid Seward claimed that, although the King was close to both of his sons, he grew “especially close” to Harry.

Speaking to GB News, she added: “Harry loved doing things with Charles. He loved going into the gardens at Highgrove and learning about plants. And he loved the military, loved horses. And as soon as he was able to, Charles would take him on little trips he could do with him.”

During an interview with Good Morning America earlier this week, Harry voiced that he plans to “spend more time” with his family in the UK.

The interview was conducted less than a fortnight after it was revealed that the King had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer and Harry flew to London to meet with him.

Harry’s visit lasted just over 24 hours, with the 39-year-old spotted back at Heathrow Airport just a day later.

Prince Harry now lives in California with wife Meghan and their two children, Archie, four and Lilibet, two.
