Real reason King Charles is refusing to slow down post-surgery despite Camilla's plea

King Charles will refuse to “slow down” – despite Queen Camilla’s plea to do so – due to one key reason.

The Queen is said to have urged her husband to take things slow, especially as he is set to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate later this week.

It was revealed by Buckingham Palace last week that the 75-year-old is set to take some time away from royal duties due to the surgery.

According to royal expert Robert Jobson, the King is unlikely to wish to take things a little slower as he is aware of the limited time has has left to achieve all that he wants to.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Mr Jobson said: “From the moment he arrived at Buckingham Palace the day before his Coronation and got out of the car for a walkabout when someone embraced him and said ‘God save the King’ – a very touching moment – everyone warmed to him.

“But he was never going to be a carbon copy of the Queen. He sees himself as being able to make a difference and he is not afraid to speak out on issues such as the environment.”

Speaking on why he will not want to slow dows, the expert said: “His first year as King has so far been characterised by a sense of urgency – he knows he has a limited time to achieve.

“I remember chatting to him at a dinner at Dumfries House, before he became King, and asking about his interest in watercolour painting.

“He replied that he doesn’t have time to paint anymore.”

King Charles has been monarch for the past 16 months, having taken on the role on September 8, 2022.

Although he has seemingly won over the public, the royal has been urged to step down in order to make way for the younger generation of royals.

Speaking previously to GB News, Stephen Pound, who is a former Labour MP, said King Charles making the decision step down would save the monarchy.

He said: “The monarchy is in a state of crisis at the present time.

“We’ve had possibly the worst few years since [Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II] passed on. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing if King Charles said it’s time for a reset?”

In Buckingham Palace’s statement, it read: “In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.

“His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.”
