Rare frontline footage shows Israeli commando unit wiping out Hamas in ground combat

A new video shows Israel’s elite commando unit engaging in an intense gunfight with Hamas militants using a drone and grenades in southern Gaza’s most populous city.

Footage uploaded by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday shows a skirmish between the IDF’s Egoz commando unit and two Hamas militants who were hiding inside a building in Khan Younis.

The Egoz Unit – also known as Unit 621 – is one of the most elite forces which specializes in “fighting in complex terrains, fieldcraft, camouflage, and in miniature warfare,” according to the IDF.

The video shows the Israeli soldiers sending out a a drone to scout the interior of the crumbling building.

Drone footage then shows it successfully pinpointing the terrorists’ exact location.

One of the commandos carefully tosses a grenade out of the window before taking cover, with more than four soldiers looking on.

Aerial footage shows the grenade exploding, seemingly killing the Hamas militants.

Footage of the aftermath shows the IDF troops scouting the destroyed building where they located the two dead Hamas fighters.

One unidentified fighter was found lying on his back, and another was found lying from under a pile of rubble. The video also shows what appears to be a Kalashnikov rifle lying next to one of the downed fighters.

The footage could not be independently verified by Daily Express US.

Khan Younis continues to face some of the most bloodiest fighting so far as the IDF works to execute its “second stage” of the war – which involves expanding its ground invasion into Gaza and eliminating Hamas terror cells.

As the conflict escalates in the city, civilian facilities like Nasser medical complex are facing an influx of hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians who sought shelter from Israeli bombardment.

As of February 20, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that Nasser hospital, which housed around 130 sick and injured patients and 15 medical staff, has been facing critical shortages of water, electricity, and essential medical supplies.

The Palestinian death toll in Gaza has surpassed 29,000, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
