Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine's brutal gym attack sees three arrested after horror injuries

Tekashi 6ix9ine, who topped the charts in 2020 with his track Trollz alongside Nicki Minaj, was left with a series of injuries after three men assaulted and robbed the rapper earlier in March. Police have now arrested three men, Rafael Medina Jr, Octavious Medina, and Anthony Maldonado, following the incident.

The three men are currently being held in the Palm Beach County Jail, with each reportedly charged with robbery and battery.

The 26-year-old, who was born Daniel Hernandez, sustained the injuries inside the sauna of a gym he was attending on March 21, and was taken away in an ambulance after the attack.

According to TMZ, 6ix9ine’s attorney, Lance Lazzaro, the star was visiting a branch of LA Fitness in South Florida when the altercation occurred.

He attempted to fight the group off, Lazzaro claimed, but was overwhelmed by being outnumbered three-to-one by his attackers.

It emerged that when staff at the gym became aware of what was happening, the emergency medical services and police were called to handle the incident.

TMZ also handed out an image of the rapper, who was covered in blood after reportedly sustaining injuries to his face, ribs, back and jaw.

In the aftermath of the incident, a social media clip showing the rapper was circulated online, with the rapper shown wearing a puffer jacket and shorts.

The rapper spoke after the attack to claim security at the gym had said the attack was simply a “fluke”.

After the incident, 6ix9ine was taken to a “safe room” within the gym as he waited to be seen by the authorities and then taken to the hospital.

It’s not 6ix9ine’s first run-in with the law, as five years ago he was facing the prospect of 47 years behind bars, and a maximum of a life sentence when facing charges of racketeering, firearm possession, armed robbery and attempted murder.

However, the rapper – who has so far released two albums during his career, testified against his co-defendants, the Bloods gang, and fellow star Cardi B.

In the end, the musician spent two years behind bars, and was released in April 2020, and told to spend the remainder of his sentence on house arrest.

His life has been blighted with criminal charges, and in August last year, his girlfriend Rachel Wattley was the one facing the law after she punched him at Kiki on the River in Miami.

The rapper was said to be “heavily intoxicated” when he was thrown out of Miami’s LoanDepot Park, Page Six reported, soon after that brawl.

A source said: “‘He was heavily intoxicated and interrupting other guests’ experience. He was drunk, he was inebriated and he was out of control.

“There were a lot of families there last night and he was bothering people.”
