Ralph Yarl's lawyer shares picture of 16 year old recovering as shooter pleads not

Ralph Yarl has been pictured recovering well alongside his lawyer, who says it is a “miracle” that the attack didn’t lead to more damage.

Posting the photo on Twitter, attorney Lee Merritt said: “Ralph Yarl is home and recovering! How the bullet in his head did not cause more extensive damage is truly a miracle. To God be the glory!”

At a rally this week, Mr Merritt also said: “A bullet travelled from [Lester’s] gun less than five feet into his upper temple, penetrated his skull, and they scraped bullet fragments off his frontal lobe on Thursday. On Saturday, he was home playing with his dog.”

Ralph was shot last week after he went to the wrong address in Kansas City to pick up his two younger brothers.

Andrew Lester, 84, has been charged with first-degree assault, and could face a maximum life sentence.

The suspect has pleaded not guilty, saying that he was scared due to Ralph’s size, thinking that he was trying to break in.

She added that her son is able to communicate “when he feels like it” but he mostly “just sits there and stares and the buckets of tears just rolls down his eyes”.

Ms Nagbe continued: “Ralph was shot on the top of his left eye – his frontal lobe and the top of his right arm. He had the bullet up here [in his head] for about 12 hours before it was taken out, so that injury is extensive,.

She added: “The residual effect of that injury is going to stay with him for quite a while. He’s home but I want to remind everybody that Ralph is home because he is surrounded by a team of medical professionals.”
