Princess Beatrice was reportedly going to have another name but the late Queen Elizabeth didn’t approve of it as it was too “yuppie”.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s first child was born on August 8, 1988, in London but it took two weeks before her name – Beatrice Elizabeth Mary – was officially announced and there’s a very particular reason for that, according to reports.
Traditionally, the royals tell the reigning monarch first about their name choice for their child in the hopes that they are happy with it.
But in Beatrice’s case, the late Queen wasn’t very pleased with it.
Andrew and Sarah wanted their daughter to be named Princess Annabel but Elizabeth turned it down, as it was too “yuppie”, according to the Sun.

The late monarch suggested Beatrice instead, reportedly being inspired by Queen Victoria’s youngest daughter.
Beatrice’s middle names – Elizabeth and Mary – pay tribute to her grandmother and great-grandmother.
The princess kept the royal tradition and paid tribute to two royals when naming her daughter, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi.
Elizabeth is a clear reference to the late monarch, a heartfelt tribute to Beatrice’s grandmother.
Sienna’s first name is Italian in origin, a sweet tribute to Edoardo’s family.
But the name Sienna also has sweet links to Beatrice’s mother, Sarah Ferguson as according to one of the couple’s friends, they wanted to find an Italian name that started with an S for Sarah to honour her.
