Queen Elizabeth scolds photographer in unearthed clip of brutal confrontation

Queen Elizabeth once scolded an American photographer after they asked her to remove her crown.

In a resurfaced clip from 2007, Annie Leibovitz can be seen shooting a set of portraits of the late monarch for her state visit to the US.

For the photoshoot, Elizabeth wore her crown and her Order of the Garter robes. During the shoot, Leibovitz asked her to remove her crown for a “less dressy” shot and the late monarch wasn’t pleased.

Leibovitz said: “I think it will look better without the crown. Could we try without the crown? It will look better… less dressy. Because the garter robe is so…”

But before the photographer could finish her sentence, the late Queen cut her off and said: “Less dressy? What do you think this is?” before appearing to laugh quietly.

In another segment later Elizabeth can be seen walking and saying: “I am not changing anything, I’ve done enough dressing like this. Thank you very much.”

The BBC was forced to apologise at the time as the trailer, which was shown to the press ahead of the documentary, A Year with the Queen’s release, was “misleadingly edited” and gave the impression that the “Queen had stormed out in a huff” after the exchange when in reality, she was walking in.

In a statement, the broadcaster said: “In this trailer, there is a sequence that implies that the Queen left a sitting prematurely. This was not the case and the actual sequence of events was misrepresented. The BBC would like to apologise to both the Queen and Annie Leibovitz for any upset this may have caused.”
