Queen Camilla 'understands King Charles's boundaries' with George, Charlotte and Louis

Queen Camilla “knows the sorts of boundaries” that her husband, King Charles expects, particularly when in relation to his grandchildren, a royal biographer has claimed. Robert Hardman, the author of The Making of a King: King Charles III, and the Modern Monarchy, said: “She [Queen Camilla] wouldn’t want to be getting into the King’s space with his grandchildren.”

Queen Camilla, has two children of her own, from her first marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles, Laura Lopes, 46, and Tom Parker Bowles, 49, and King Charles became stepfather to the two children after marrying Camilla in 2005.

Mr Hardman told People: “She’s not going to push herself. She’s still very keen to maintain. She’s still got her own family. That’s very important to her, and she appreciates how important it is for him.”

Royal biographer, Mr Hardman has explained that King Charles, 75, is a “doting grandfather” to Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.

The monarch spends “a lot more time at Windsor,” near where the Prince and Princess of Wales live.

Hardman continued: “Normally, he’s often there on a Thursday and a Friday… He’s never really had that sort of proximity to the younger family. Now, there’s more overlap.”

In the summer of 2022, The Prince and Princess of Wales moved their family residence to Adelaide Cottage near Windsor Castle and the Wales’s are within walking distance of the castle.

Adelaide Cottage is a four-bedroom cottage which was previously home to Captain Peter Townsend, the ex-boyfriend of Princess Margaret.

Queen Camilla, 76, has five grandchildren through her two children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes.

Her three grandsons served as her Pages of Honour at the King’s Coronation in May 2023.

Tom has been a columnist, food writer and broadcaster since 2002, and serves as a restaurant critic at the Mail on Sunday and food editor at Esquire.

Laura Lopes, however, keeps a much lower profile than her brother, having attended Oxford Brookes University, studying History of Art and Marketing.

Whilst King Charles is currently at The London Clinic at Marylebone, undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate, Queen Camilla is supporting her husband.

With Charles preparing for hospital earlier this week, Queen Camilla attended a series of solo engagements in Swindon and London.
