Putin may be plotting double whammy false flag attacks at nuclear plants to 'cause chaos'

Russia could be plotting a horrific string of false flag attacks on two nuclear facilities, including one on its own turf, according to reports.

Russian President Vladimir Putin could be devising a terrifying plan to target its own nuclear plant in the Kursk region of Russia in a false flag attack, a spokesperson of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said on Tuesday.

It cited a report by Ukraine’s National Resistance Center (NRC), which was set up by the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

In the statement, it claimed to have obtained leaked documents indicating that Moscow is gearing up for a “provocation” at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant in western Russia.

According to Igor Sushko, a prolific commentator on Russia’s illegal conflict, the attack on the plant 36 miles from the Ukrainian border would deliberately coincide with a false flag attack at occupied Zaporizhia NPP.

Last month, US-based think tank the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) warned that the Kremlin may be “setting conditions” to blame Ukraine for a looming false flag attack on the Zaporizhia plant.

It came after an earlier claim from the Ukrainian military Russia was plotting a provocation that would take place “in the nearest future.”

It also alleged that “objects resembling explosive devices” had been spotted on the roof of the facility.

Sushko tweeted: “Russia’s apparent intent is to cause chaos and distraction by blowing up both nuclear power plants – one in occupied Zaporizhia in Ukraine under Russian control and one in Kursk just a half-hour from the border in Russia, thereby paralyzing the West in confusion from responding.”

He added, posting a picture of the alleged document: “Ukraine’s National Resistance Center created by the Special Operations Forces acquired this document: ‘Russian government order for local authorities in Kursk to make preparations for an evacuation zone of probable radioactive contamination in case of an ‘accident’ at Kursk NPP.’

“All this has logic in Putin’s twisted brain: 1. Use radioactive contamination to halt Ukraine’s counteroffensive to liberate occupied territories, especially the land-bridge to Crimea, in the region of occupied Zaporizhia NPP. 2. Turn the border into a radioactive buffer zone.”

But according to the NRC, Russia is plotting the provocation “to divert the world’s attention from the seizure of the ZNPP.”

Daily Express US has been unable to verify the authenticity of the documents alleging provocation preparations at the Kursk plant.

But fears of nuclear disaster at Zaporizhia are nothing new.

The six-reactor complex has been under occupation since shortly after Moscow’s forces invaded in February 2022.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned last month the “only source of danger to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is Russia and no one else”.

He said in a video statement citing Ukrainian intelligence: “Now we have information from our intelligence that the Russian military has placed objects resembling explosives on the roof of several power units of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

“Perhaps to simulate an attack on the plant. Perhaps they have some other scenario. But in any case, the world sees – can’t but see – that the only source of danger to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is Russia and no one else.”

It came after Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant blew up in attack Russia is believed to have been responsible for.

This sparked fears that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest nuclear facility in Europe, would be left without the water needed to cool its facilities, threatening a major security risk.

Zelensky added: “Unfortunately, there was no timely and large-scale response to the terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. And this may incite the Kremlin to commit new evil.”

UN nuclear experts requested further access to Europe’s biggest nuclear power plant – located in southeastern Ukraine – to ensure that there were no explosives there.
