Pupils evacuated as XL Bully charges into school car park after mauling owner

Primary school children were rushed into classrooms after police alerted teachers a dangerous XL bully was on the loose after mauling its 60-year-old owner.

Police were called to Brisley in Norfolk shortly before 3pm on Monday after a member of the public reported that a woman was being attacked by an XL bully dog in the back garden of her property in Gately Road and was screaming for help.

The force said the dog escaped from the property following the attack and was found by officers in School Road shortly after the incident. It was later destroyed.

The banned animal had been secured to a post in the car park of Brisley Church of England Primary Academy.

Headteacher Belinda Allen told the Eastern Daily Press school staff “immediately cleared the area” after being alerted by police there was a “dangerous dog in the area”. The headteacher added “there was no immediate danger to staff or children”.

A statement from Norfolk Police said: “Someone had managed to secure it to a post in the car park of a local primary school. Pupils and teachers were still present and inside the main school building at the time.”
