Pub for sale on beautiful remote island dubbed 'UK's Mediterranean'

A pub has been put up for sale on a beautiful remote island which is often dubbed “the UK’s Mediterranean”.

Situated in St. Agnes in the Isles of Scilly, the “outstanding” pub found on a “unique and idyllic prominent waterside location” could be yours – for £795,000.

The establishment boasts space for punters, with enough room for five staff and two owners to live, as well as having terrific views towards Tresco, St Martins, St Marys and the Island of Gugh.

For those unwilling to splash the cash to buy it, you can rent it for £18,500 per month.

St Agnes is the southernmost populated island of the Scilly Isles, and in 2011 had a population of just 82.

It is connected to neighbouring island Gugh at low tide via an appearing sandbar. Gugh has a population of 3.

St Agnes’s most notable landmark is its lighthouse, which is now a living accommodation as the tower no longer contains a light.

Its main settlement, Troy Town (also the southernmost of the United Kingdom) has a historic maze.

St Agnes has a primary school, but secondary school students have to board at neighbouring island St Mary’s before coming home for the weekend. Sixth formers must go a step further – boarding in mainland Britain.

Over a third of St Agnes is designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. It is home to a variety of stunning plant and animal life.
