One said the cheesecake looks “better than all these bakers in their industrial kitchens”. Others saw the funny side of the posts.
A person said the curry looks “better than wit a hud the night fur dinner” – better than what they’d eaten the night before.
However, the cons’ TikTok antics appear to breach laws that ban them from having devices and “transmitting a communication of any kind from inside a prison”.
The prison – the largest in Scotland – has been described as not fit for purpose in recent years.
Plans have been approved to replace the Victorian building with a new ‘superjail’ – HMP Glasgow – at a reported cost of £400m.
Built in 1882, Barlinnie usually houses around 1,400 inmates – 50% over the capacity it was designed for.
The Scottish Prison Service was shown the three TikTok videos.
A spokesperson said: “We deploy a variety of strategic, tactical and technological responses to mitigate against illicit articles, such as mobile phones, being introduced in the prison estate.
“We continue to invest in the development of new technology to detect, deter and reduce their availability and supply in what is a continuously evolving and dynamic area.”
Prisoners at Glasgow’s HMP Barlinnie – known as the Big Hoose – have also uploaded shots of their cooked meals.
A social media clip from one account shows a lag making a dessert out of Oreo biscuits and Kinder Bueno chocolate.
More footage from an another account shows a meal cooked in-house – titled ‘Barlinnies Monday Night Curry’s’.
And there is also a video of the ‘Barlinnie canteen’ – showing packs of sweets and crisps inside a cell.
Commenters seemed impressed with the inmates’ creativity.
