Princess Kate’s video message was unexpected but embraced by two American podcast hosts, who found Kate’s speech to be reassuring.
Royally Obsessed premieres a new episode every Thursday, but co-hosts, Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito, recorded a special segment to share their thoughts on Kate’s public announcement.
During the episode, which aired the same day as Kate’s video message, Ms Bowie said: “This definitely took us completely by surprise.”
She added: “I feel like, we were not expecting an announcement on this Friday, nor were we expecting what the contents would be.”
Ms Fiorito was brought to tears, saying Kate’s voice was filled with such emotion and it really moved her, and at the time, she was very happy to see her on-camera versus in a still photograph.

“Not only the need to show that she’s okay, she’s doing well, she reassures everyone that she is well, she is going to be okay, and she’s getting stronger every day, she’s focusing on her ‘mind, body and spirit,” said Ms Fiorito.
“I really liked that part, but also, that we see her, for the first time in a long time, not just in photo form, we see her on video, telling us this, it does feel reassuring.”
