Princess Kate's very clever mum trick at getting perfect snap of Prince George

Princess Kate has revealed her secret trick for getting the perfect photograph of Prince George – and it stems back to when he was just a baby. The Princess of Wales is known for her love of photography, often opting to take milestone photos of her children herself to celebrate their birthdays.

But one trick that has stayed with her was one she used on Prince George while he was having his formal photograph taken with the late Queen, King Charles and his father Prince William to mark his christening. Kate was seen pulling faces and talking to George behind the camera as she tried to get his attention so the photographer could capture the perfect snap of the youngster.

It’s a trick that Kate appears to have continued with all her children. The future King was baptised on October 23, 2013 by Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace.

In the photograph, which Kate was not in, he was dressed in the traditional royal christening gown – a replica of the original Honiton gown commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841.

The Royal Family gather for official portraits following important ceremonies, with the picture being taken in the Morning Room at Clarence House. The photograph was a representation of the Queen and her three heirs.

During the late Queen’s Christmas broadcast in 2013, the royal family shared some behind-the-scenes from the photoshoot. The late monarch talked about the arrival of Prince George, saying: “Here at home my own family is a little larger this Christmas.

“As so many of you will know, the arrival of a baby gives everyone the chance to contemplate the future with renewed happiness and hope. For the new parents, life will never be quite the same again!

“As with all who are christened, George was baptised into a joyful faith of Christian duty and service. After the christening, we gathered for the traditional photograph. It was a happy occasion, bringing together four generations.”
