Princess Kate's 'natural' sporting abilities praised during major rugby event

Kate, the Princess of Wales has been praised for her “natural” sporting performance during today’s engagement in Hull.

The royal was present to take part in a Rugby League Inclusivity Day hosted by the Rugby Football League, Hull FC and the University of Hull.

During the visit, Kate was able to take part in ball skills and drills with PDRL and LDRL players, alongside students from Hull FC’s Centre of Excellence.

A picture of the Princess of Wales posed on X, formerly known as Twitter, showed the royal getting stuck in to the activity.

Not one to shy away from a challenge, Kate has been praised for showing off her ability in the task at hand, as well as how naturally she took to it.

Taking to X, rugby league commentator Phil Caplan wrote: “Princess of Wales a #rugby league natural, perfect catch and pass at speed.”

Princess Kate was all smiles as she arrived at the engagement just before midday.

Known for her love of the sport, Kate appeared ready to get stuck into activities, which also included trying ther hand at wheelchair rugby.

For the event, Kate stepped away from her recent repeated trend of wearing a suit and, instead, opted for a navy tracksuit.

Matching the sporty vibe, the navy two-piece seemed like the pefect attire for the major event.

Kate holds two rugby patron roles, both being honoured to her by the late Queen at the start of 2022.

Last year, she took on two new appointments as patronages – the Rugby Football League and the Rugby Football Union.

Back in January, Kate hosted a reception for England’s Wheelchair Rugby League team at Hampton Court Palace in recognition of being crowned World Champions in November 2022.

The Rugby Football League is committed to ensuring that no individual is excluded from accessing and enjoying Rugby League.

The Inclusivity Day saw members of Hull FC’s Wheelchair, Physical Disability and Learning Disability Rugby League teams taking part in training skills sessions and friendly matches.

The teams were joined by students from Hull FC’s Centre of Excellence, learning about and experience the different forms of Disability Rugby League.
