Princess Kate's amazing comeback when friend said she's lucky to have Prince William

Princess Kate is known for her beaming smile and quick-witted sense of humour, and proved she had those personality traits early on in life when a friend told her she was lucky to be dating Prince William.

The future King attended St Andrews University in Scotland and no doubt received a lot of female admirers because of his elite Royal Family status.

It was there he met the love of his life Kate, whom he would go onto marry and have three children with.

One of her uni friends even pointed out to Kate how lucky she was to be going out with William, but the princess had a typically brilliant response, according to a report from RSVP Live.

A smiling Kate simply replied: “He’s lucky to have me.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales dated for a number of years, before William finally got down on one knee to propose marriage to his delighted girlfriend.

At the time King Charles famously commented: “They have been practising long enough.”

William had even promised he would never be pressured into marriage before he was ready, according to royal author Katie Nicholl.

She claims the future King learned from his own parents’ ill-fated relationship and was determined he wouldn’t do the same.

Nicholl wrote in her book The Making of a Royal Romance: “He was aware his father had been pressured into marrying Diana because she was deemed the suitable bride.

“He was reluctant to bow to similar pressure and vowed not to be hurried at the altar.

“He made his feelings clear, telling a journalist in an off-guard moment that he had no plans of getting married any time soon.”

Kate and William tied the knot in a glittering ceremony at Westminster Abbey in April 2011.

The couple now have three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The princess appeared to adapt to Royal Family life extremely quickly, and along with William, continues to be at the forefront of numerous engagements – both home and abroad.
