Royal experts have begun speculating about Princess Kate’s choice of colour at the event which is likely to reflect her senior position within the Firm. Speaking to Express.co.uk, royal historian, Mok O’Keeffe claimed “green or blue” are likely contenders for her outfit.

The historian also said Kate is unlikely to wear a uniform, never having served in the military, but it is the first Trooping she will be attending as Colonel of the Irish Guards, and this year it will be “particularly important and special” for the royal.

Prince William has expressed his pride for his wife when she attended the St Patrick’s Day Parade at Mons Barracks on March 17 in Aldershot, England for the first time in her new role. William said it was “incredibly sad” to be giving a speech as it meant his time as Colonel of the regiment was coming to a close.

Prince William then addressed his wife as “Colonel Catherine” saying: “I may be stepping aside, but in Colonel Catherine you have a committed, focused, and already incredibly loyal 11th Colonel. As you serve together over the years ahead, know that I will continue to watch you, with huge pride in having been one of you.”

The mother-of-three is likely to be watching the spectacle from the comfort of her ceremonial carriage, before joining the King and other senior working Royals on the Buckingham Palace balcony. Princess Kate will also be joined by her three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The parade is a British royal tradition, jam-packed with pop and pageantry and marks the official birthday of the British Sovereign. Trooping the Colour takes place every year in June and dates back centuries – it became an annual event from 1760.

Over 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians will come together on June 17 in a fantastic display of military precision, horsemanship, and fanfare – much like we saw at the King’s Coronation last month.
