Kate, the Princess of Wales has been increasingly adopting a more business-like style to signal she is ready to face the challenges of her more senior position, a fashion expert has claimed.
In the early stages of her royal career, Kate could often be seen opting for more classical outfits such as posh mid-length dresses and signature royal coat dresses.
But since taking on the role of Princess of Wales she has grown more daring and adopted a far bolder style for her official outings.
Fashion expert Miranda Holder suggested Kate is “sending a message” with her new wardrobe as she highlighted the “transformative power of clothes.”
Holder said: “Kate is saying, ‘Don’t focus so much on my clothes. I am here to do a role. I want to be taken seriously.’

“‘I am treating this as a proper duty. I’m pledging my allegiance to these charities and causes. … I’m your future queen, and I’m doing the best I can.’
“It’s sending out a message of business rather than fashion. She’s trying to take away from the world’s fixation on her fashion.”
However, the royal fashion expert argued it is going to be quite difficult for the Princess of Wales to distract from her fashion choices.
Since she joined the Royal Family in 2011, Kate has continuously sparked a frenzy among fashionistas who regularly flock to the Internet in a bid to secure whatever piece she opts to wear on her latest outing.
Speaking to US Weekly, Holder also noted that the Princess likely wants people to focus on how serious she is about her position and what she can do for the country.
She added: “She’s definitely a wonderful mother, a lovely wife and we all adore her, but she’s very, very committed to her role and she puts everything into whatever she’s doing, and that’s reflected throughout her life.
“Her wardrobe needs to reflect that, and she’s worked really hard over the years to refine her look.”
Kate has made power suits her own, showcasing the flexibility and adaptability of the outfit on several of her most recent public appearances.
Last month, the Princess of Wales also debuted a new haircut featuring grown-out curtain bangs framing her face.
Celebrity hairstylist Nicky Clarke noted that “curtain bangs are incredibly versatile, working on any length of hair, and allow the wearer to really take ownership of their look, pairing well with edgy rock-chick looks or more pared-back, off-duty styles.”
