Princess Kate prepares to celebrate four milestones as she continues cancer treatment

The Princess of Wales prepares to celebrate four major milestones as she continues her cancer treatment.

Princess Kate revealed that she is undergoing chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer last month, with her diagnosis coming as a “shock” to everyone around her.

But the future Queen has a few milestones coming up that are sure to brighten her days – including two of her children’s birthdays.

In an emotional video released on March 22, Kate shared that her diagnosis came after undergoing post-operative tests following planned abdominal surgery back in January.

Here Express.co.uk looks at four upcoming milestones that will be sure to make Princess Kate smile.

Prince Louis – the third and youngest child of Princess Kate and Prince William – will celebrate his sixth birthday in just over a week’s time, on April 23.

Despite her treatment, Kate will undoubtedly do her best to make sure Louis’s day is as special as possible.

In a statement released in January to share news of the royal’s surgery – which is unrelated to her recent diagnosis – Kate shared that she hoped the public “will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible”.

According to the Sun, the mother-of-three will try and make a cake for Louis – much like she does for all of children’s birthdays each year.

She usually makes it the night before, once the children have all gone to bed.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary on April 29 – just six days after Louis’s birthday.

The couple tied the knot on April 29, 2011 after an eight-year relationship.

It remains unclear how the couple will celebrate, but William will no doubt try and make the day as special as possible for his wife.

Princess Kate shared that William has been a source of “comfort” and “reassurance” since her diagnosis in her emotional address last month.

The Princess of Wales will also be gearing up to celebrate Princess Charlotte’s ninth birthday at the beginning of May.

The young royal, who was born in 2015, will turn nine on May 2.

Like for Louis, Kate is hoping to follow her own tradition of making Charlotte a birthday cake – something that she “loves” doing.

Speaking to Mary Berry in 2019, Kate said: “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much.”

Just four days after Charlottes’s birthday, the Royal Family will mark one year since the King’s coronation.

The King and Queen Camilla were crowned in London on May 6 last year.

Details of how the family will mark the day have not yet been released.

The day will likely be a day of a reflection and bring back memories of a wonderful day in the King’s life and reign so far.
