Princess Kate pitted against Diana as Royal Family butt of the joke in new Disney film

One reviewer explained the scene to Page Six, which comes after Ariel has traded her voice in exchange for legs to get to the surface and find her prince: “Ariel has sacrificed her voice in order to get to the surface and [meet] Prince Eric.

“She can’t speak so he tries to guess her name.”

The reviewer continued: “His first guess is Diana. His second guess is Catherine, but after [Ariel gives a disgusted] reaction, he [concludes] ‘OK, definitely not Catherine.'”

Some have interpreted her reaction as a swipe against the Princess of Wales, with the name Diana likely referring to her late mother-in-law.

Meghan said: “I went: ‘Oh my God, she falls in love with the prince and because of that she loses her voice.'”

She went on to say: “I’ve always valued independence. I’ve always been outspoken, especially about women’s rights, and that’s the sad irony of the last four years, I’ve advocated for so long for women to use their voice.”

Kate has recently been likened to Diana in a much more positive way as a behavioural analyst compared her body language to that of her predecessor during her brief appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Darren Stanton pointed out that Kate seemed “very comfortable in her own skin” as she played the piano in an opening segment for the show dressed in a gorgeous one-shouldered blue Jenny Packham gown.

He said on behalf of Spin Genie: “She’s very comfortable in her […] skin and all manners of life and we see this through her style too – we see her just as confident in her bolder more regal outfits as she is in a polo shirt and jeans, just like Princess Diana was.

“Kate playing the piano at Eurovision was a fantastic piece of footage. Her facial expression here was one of genuine happiness, joy, and elation.

“It just shows that she has hidden skills and she’s not afraid to show those skills. She‘s happy to show the public what she can do outside of her royal duties.

“Again, it’s a testament to her inner confidence and great sense of humour too, and we saw her at ease behind the piano.”
