Princess Kate 'has moved on' from Meghan Markle drama, friend reveals

Princess Kate has ‘moved on’ from any drama surrounding her and Meghan Markle, a close friend claims. Since Meghan and husband Prince Harry stepped down as working royals in 2020, Kate has come under the firing line from the couple.

The relationship between the Princess of Wales, Prince William and Harry and Meghan has been frosty for years, with the latter claiming the couple were cold towards Meghan in their explosive Oprah Winfrey interview.

But now, Kate is focused on putting her best foot forward. A friend of the royal told People: “She’s moved on and William has too.

“She’s very focused on what matters going forward. They aren’t looking back.”

It comes as Kate is due to enter her first full year since she became Princess of Wales.

She will access her full list of engagements for 2024 in the new year, with her 42nd birthday also coming up on January 9.

“She takes things seriously — and thank goodness for that,” a source close to the royal household said.

Since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, quietly confident Kate has been cast even more centre stage by the Firm.

Simon Lewis, former Buckingham Palace communications chief and cohost of the BBC podcast When It Hits the Fan, also said: “She’s very much seen as a player at the center of team Windsor.”

In 2023, Kate’s Shaping Us campaign has been hailed a success. Centred on early years development, she gave a landmark speech at a conference on Early Years at the Design Museum in London back in November, before celebrating the childhood sector at the Christmas carol concert on December 8 at Westminster Abbey.

The third annual service, she was the star of the show, alongside Prince William, parents Carole and Michael Middleton and sister Pippa.

“She is carving out a special place for herself, which is celebratory,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith also told People.

And despite repeated attacks from camp Harry and Meghan, most recently in Omid Scobie’s Endgame, where she has been described as ‘cold’, she has maintained her toughness, one royal biographer said.

“She has this public image of being nice and smiley and, dare I say, innocuous,” Valentine Low said.

“But she is actually strong-minded, strong-willed and prepared to fight for what she wants and what she thinks is right.”
