Princess Kate and Queen Camilla 'united by common enemy' as friendship cemented

She described the “real warmth” exuding from the women, observing that she “didn’t actually notice it was missing until I now am seeing it more and more as the weeks go by”.

Griffiths continued: “I didn’t really notice before that they didn’t give each other those looks or those friendly hand gestures so much as they do now, and I think it is probably because they’re united by a common enemy, to say the least.

“They’re both going to be Queen one day because Camilla will be dowager queen and Kate will be Queen consort, so they’ll be united by that.

“They’re in a business relationship and they’re going to have more and more balcony appearances like that, so they may as well get on and become close.”

The insider noted that there was “a lot of respect” shown by Kate toward Camilla, which was likely as a result of her own close bond with Carole Middleton – the princess’s mother.

The expert added: “Kate is really close with her own mother, so she’s probably never been incredibly close with Camilla but maybe as the years go by, Kate can be a sort of support for Camilla as she gets older, and works really hard.”

During the ceremony on November 12, Kate was seen to be hugely emotional, tearing up as the spectacle got into full flow.

Sarah Vine, a fellow Daily Mail columnist, did observe, though, how Camilla looked “a bit shaky”.

In recent weeks, she and her husband King Charles III have been on a whirlwind tour of nations such as Kenya.

Vine added: “She’s very tired after this tour so maybe there’s just a little bit of Kate’s sensitive side.

“She’s quite maternal, Catherine, isn’t she?

“She’s quite a kind person.”
