Princess Eugenie opens up on motherhood in touching tribute to son August

Princess Eugenie has opened up about changing priorities since the arrival of son August and the forthcoming birth of her second child. The Duke and Duchess of York’s youngest daughter spoke of her desire to do more for the planet since August’s birth.

Eugenie told Hello! magazine: “Since August came into my life, it’s positively impacted my desire to do more.

“Priorities change when you have children. You want to do everything you can for them and for your grandchildren.

“August is only two, but I hope what I’m doing will seep through to him and that one day he takes it on, too.”

Eugenie gave birth to her first son, August Philip Hawke, in February 2021.

The image was taken by Jack and showed August kissing his mother’s belly as they played outside.

The caption under the photo read: “We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer.”

Eugenie’s growing baby bump could be seen last month in a video released by one of her patronages and as she arrived for the Royal Family’s annual Easter Sunday service at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor.

The video, shared via Horatio’s Garden’s official Twitter account, included highlights of a recent visit paid to the Garden London & South East by King Charles’s niece.

On top of her role at art gallery Hauser & Wirth, Eugenie is an ambassador for the Blue Marine Foundation, which aims to restore and protect at least 30 percent of the Solent.

Eugenie revealed at the World Economic Forum earlier this year that she tries to minimise the amount of plastic used at home.

She said in an interview at Davos: “At home, we have no plastic, we try to as much as possible have no plastic and I’m trying to teach him [August] that. But it’s a battle.”

Besides showing a passion to protect the environment, Eugenie also co-founded the charity, Anti Slavery Collective, with her best pal, Julia de Boinville, in 2017.

Eugenie’s Hello! interview comes after she celebrated her 33rd birthday on March 23.

Her mother, Sarah, Duchess of York, shared a throwback snap of Eugenie to mark the occasion on social media.

Fergie wrote on Instagram: “Happy Happiest of birthdays, my Eugenie…

“Spring flowers always tells me the excitement of your birthday is soon and here we are.

“You are my magical beloved daughter and I am so proud of you.”

The picture shows Eugenie, wearing a denim jacket, sunglasses and a large pink bow in her hair.
