Princess Beatrice, who is ninth in line to the throne, is celebrating her 35th birthday.
In light of the royal’s big day, Express.co.uk is taking a look at her life in pictures from her formative years as a young Princess to landing a top job at a world-leading intelligence company.
Born on August 8, 1988, Beatrice Elizabeth Mary York was Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s first child.
Her name was reportedly going to be Annabelle until the late Queen Elizabeth stepped in and suggested a more traditional name, thus she was named after Queen Victoria’s youngest child. Among her family, she is affectionately known as “Bea Bea”.
At the age of two, she became a big sister when Princess Eugenie was born in March 1990. The two siblings are reportedly very close with each taking on the role of maid of honour at each other’s weddings.
Unlike her sister who studied at Malborough College, Wiltshire, Beatrice stayed closer to home for her schooling, attending St George’s, Ascot, where she achieved an A in A-Level Drama and two Bs in History and Film Studies.
She then went on to read History and History of Ideas at Goldsmiths College in London in 2008. But instead of living in student accommodation like her cousin Prince William, she moved into a four-bedroom flat in St James’s Palace, where she continued to live with her sister during their twenties.
In 2009, she appeared in the 2009 film The Young Victoria, starring Emily Blunt, as an extra.
Before her time at university was up, she ran the London Marathon in five hours, 15 minutes and 57 seconds, to raise money for Children in Crisis. Beatrice ran the race as part of the 34-man “human caterpillar” which broke the Guinness World Record at the time for the highest number of runners tied together.
After graduating in 2011 with a 2:1, she began working as a private equity analyst. Both she and her sister are not working royals although they do support the crown.
As the Duke of York said in a statement released in 2016: “As a father, my wish for my daughters is for them to be modern, working, young women, who happen to be members of the Royal Family, and I am delighted to see them building their careers.”
Beatrice is now vice president of partnerships and strategy at Afiniti.com, a position she has held for the best part of seven years.
Over the years, she has been a patron for a number of charities including the British Skin Foundation, Street Child and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
After a brief relationship ship with Paolo Liuzzo during her late teens, Beatrice was in a relationship with Virgin Galactic businessman Dave Clark for a decade, having been introduced by her cousin William.
A friend told People at the time that the split in 2016 was “amicable”, adding: “They both need space after a period of ten years to see what they both want.”
In 2019, the Princess was spotted attending a fundraising event at the National Portrait Gallery in London with property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a descendant of Italian nobility.
The following year they tied the knot at an intimate wedding due to COVID-19 restrictions in force at the time.
She is now stepmother to Edoardo’s son Christopher Woolf, known as Wolfie, and the couple also have a daughter, Sienna, who was born in September 2021 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.
It was reported last year that the Princess and her small family have moved out of the four-bedroom apartment at St James’s Palace to the Cotswolds.
