Princess Beatrice and Eugenie set for snub as King's royal promotion hopeful steps forward

A member of the Royal Family may be on for a promotion, but it appears it’s not going to be Princesses Beatrice or Eugenie, according to a leading commentator.

The Princesses of York had been forwarded by some as possible candidates to become working royals, to take the burden off those who do the most for the family.

According to a royal source, an emergency meeting was held over whether to call up Princess Beatrice, 35, and Princess Eugenie, 33. Princess Anne has not shieded away from criticising King Charles’ decision to streamline the monarchy.

However, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that the sisters won’t be considered because of the cloud that continues to hang over Prince Andrew.

Mr Fitzwilliams told the outlet: “I think it would have been a different situation if Andrew had not been in disgrace. But as it is, I don’t think that is likely.

“There might be the possibility of Lady Louise Windsor [becoming a working royal] once she has finished her studies.”

Lady Louise Windsor, 20, is the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and she’s currently studying at St Andrews University in Scotland – the same academic institution attended by the Prince and Princess of Wales in the early 2000s.

Princess Eugenie is close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and is widely considered to have the strongest relationship with the California couple of any of the royals.

The Duke of Sussex was the first member of the monarchy to be introduced to Meghan when they began dating.

Mr Fitzwilliams also highlighted Harry and Eugenie’s friendship as having the potential to thaw relations between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.

He said: “Princess Eugenie knows what she is doing. The fact she is close to the Sussexes could be an advantage. You need a foot in both camps.

“One day they will hope for a peaceful resolution so that could be very useful.”
