Princess Beatrice and Eugenie not destined for royal future in ‘highly controversial’ move

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are not expected to ever become senior members of the Royal Family, one expert has suggested.

Beatrice and Eugenie, who are Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s two daughters, are currently not senior working royals, instead opting to do various charity work in their names.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams spoke of the sisters, adding that they are not likely to become working royals.

Mr Fitzwilliams said: “Normally, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, who carry out some charitable duties, would have been ideal to step in.

“However their official involvement, owing to their father’s disgrace, would be highly controversial.”

With there being only four current working royals under the age of 70, many have been questioning whether the King’s two nieces will step up.

The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are the only royals aged under 70, with the King and Queen Camilla both in their 70s.

Princess Anne, who is often dubbed the hardest-working royal, is currently 73 and still takes on many royal duties.

Another likely royal who could set up is Lady Louise Windsor, with her set to celebrate her 20th birthday on November 8.

Despite their association with the Royal Family, Beatrice and Eugenie have branched out into careers of their own.

The sisters’ have worked separately with various charities for causes close to their hearts, including Beatrice being patron for the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity.

In 2020, Eugenie also became patron of the Scoliosis Association UK.

Both Eugenie and Beatrice are mothers, with this likely being their main focus at the present time.

Eugenie welcomed her second son, Ernest, back in May – just weeks after attending the King’s Coronation.

She is also mother to elder son August, who was born back in February 2021.

Beatrice shares her two-year-old daughter Sienna with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. She is also step-mother to Edo’s elder child, son Wolfie.
