Princess Anne remains favourite royal for 'respect, dedication and loyalty', poll finds


King Charles and Queen Camilla alongside Prince William and Princess Kate are regarded as the core of the Royal Family but aside from the foursome, Express.co.uk readers have declared Princess Anne as their favourite.

The Princess Royal is a working member of the Firm, conducts official duties to support the King and is in receipt of the Sovereign Grant.

Her dedication to her role is reflected in her being known as the hardest-working royal, in recognition of the number of engagements and appearances she takes part in.

The 72-year-old was voted as the most popular member of the wider Royal Family in a new poll, winning by 39 percent of the vote.

Recent YouGov polling has also ranked Anne as the most popular member of the Firm, with her net favourability standing at +60.

In a poll that ran from 7am on Saturday, July 1, to 1.30pm on Tuesday, July 4, Express.co.uk asked readers: “Who is your favourite member of the Royal Family who isn’t one of the big names?”

Overall, 1,919 people voted with Anne coming out as the favourite with 39 percent (752 people).

In the comments left below the accompanying article, readers praised Anne, with username r1020c writing: “The title so belongs to Princess Anne she has been so respectful and has done so much for the late Monarch and is so loyal to King Charles now.”

The Duchess of Edinburgh came in second, securing 26 percent (492 people). Readers also commented on Sophie’s dedication to her duties. Username ja50 said: “Anne and Sophie just get on with the job with no dramas.”

Her husband Prince Edward finished in third with nine percent (175 people) and was closely followed by Zara Tindall who raked in seven percent (137 people). Lady Louise also ranked well with the 19-year-old receiving six percent (115 people) of the vote.

Other members of the Royal Family listed all scored less than 50 votes each while three percent (54 people) answered “other” and a further 24 people said they did not know.

One reader, username seashore girl, commented: “[It’s] hard to choose.”
