Princess Anne once again crowned hardest working royal with over 400 engagements this year

Throughout the years, Princess Anne has built a reliable name for herself as the one of the most hardworking royals, and that status has now been solidified with official data this year.

Analysis of royal meetings and engagements from the Sunday Telegraph found Princess Anne carried out 457 engagements in 2023, providing steadfast and reliable support for her brother King Charles.

The King wasn’t far off his sister in engagements though, with 425 royal engagements in what marked his first full calendar year as monarch.

His brother Prince Edward came third, with 297 engagements, followed by Queen Camilla, who had 233 royal engagements this year. Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh came in fifth with 219 engagements.

Princess Anne and King Charles both saw an increase in official duties following the death of Queen Elizabeth II last year.

Notable engagements this year included the King’s Coronation and the King’s historic State Visit to France in September.

Prince William and Princess Kate took on 172 and 128 engagements respectively, as the majority of duties were taken up by senior royals who are well into, or approaching retirement age.

Duties will undoubtedly have had to be spread to more members of the family following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s dramatic exit from royal duties in 2020.

The couple would have been expected to take on a significant number of working duties had relations not soured.

But the pair moved to Montecito, California, following their fallout with the Royal Family, who they have since launched scathing attacks at, in the form of an Oprah Winfrey interview, a Netflix documentary and Prince Harry’s tell-all Spare memoir.

The latest attack, from the couple’s unofficial biographer Omid Scobie’s book Spare, saw two royals named as those accused of being involved in the ‘race row’ over Prince Archie’s skin colour, in the Dutch publication of the book. The Daily Express has decided not to report the names included in the book.

Despite the fallout following the bombshell accusations and claims, duty continued for the royals, with the King, Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales taking part in multiple public meetings this week.
