Princess Anne hosts Kate and William for dinner at Clarence House before Trooping – inside

Prior to Trooping the Colour, the Princess Royal hosted members of the Royal Family for a special meal on Friday at Clarence House, including William and Kate.

On the eve of the King’s birthday parade, Princess Anne, in her new position as Senior Colonel, hosted a traditional dinner for her fellow Household Division Colonels.

Last December, Queen Camilla and Kate, Princess of Wales received military appointments, with Kate replacing her husband as Colonel of the Irish Guards and Camilla becoming Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

Following the accession of his father Charles, Prince William is now the Colonel of the Welsh Guards.

Prince Edward and the Duke of Kent serve as Royal Honorary Colonels of the 1st Battalion London Guards and Colonel of the Scots Guards respectively, therefore they also attended.

The gathering, which is typically private, was hosted at Clarence House the previous year as well.

Clarence House has been the home of Charles and Camilla for several years ever since they married in 2005.

After their 1947 wedding, the late Queen and Prince Philip lived at Clarence House, as did the Queen Mother from 1953 to 2002.

The Grade I listed building serves as both King Charles’s home and his household’s offices, with five of its principal rooms serving as receptions for hosting and receiving diplomatic visits.

The Lancaster Room, a drawing room with a central fireplace and views of the garden shared with St. James’s Palace, is the first room in the home.

Three enormous cupboards are filled with hardcover art, history, and geography books, among other souvenirs, antiques, and books from all over the world.

The walls of this room are painted a tranquil cream, but the design is comparable to how it appeared when the Queen Mother lived there.

The Morning Room features a huge collection of artwork by John Piper, Graham Sutherland, WS Sickert, and Augustus John that King Charles has maintained since his childhood, including some additions made by the Queen Mother.

This room, a cool-toned blue drawing room across the hall from The Lancaster Room, has hosted numerous distinguished visitors, including King Filipe of Spain, and served as the backdrop for official photos taken for Prince George’s baptism.

A 1773 Chippendale sofa and matching chair, a portrait of King George V, a portrait of George Bernard Shaw by Augustus John, and a portrait of Queen Elizabeth are among the artworks and antiques in the Morning Room. There are also numerous personal photographs throughout the room.

During today’s parade, King Charles will ride a horse alongside Anne, William, and Edward for the first time.

Kate, Princess of Wales, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Queen Camilla are anticipated to observe the activities from their carriages before the Royal Family congregates on the Buckingham Palace balcony to view the flypast.
