Prince William’s harsh one-word reaction after Harry left the Royal Family has been revealed. The relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry hit rock bottom following the release of Harry’s explosive biography, Spare, which included shocking allegations that stunned the Royal family.
Fast forward ten months, and it seems the gap between the brothers is wider than ever. According to Royal biographer Omid Scobie, the hurt and anger have now hardened into something colder – indifference.
In an extract from Omid’s upcoming book Endgame, shared with People, he states that “absolutely nothing has changed” between William and Harry. He reveals the harsh one-word response Harry received when leaving Royal life: “I was talking to a source quite early on in the process, and they called Harry a ‘defector’ and said that was William’s view.”

Omid also claims in his book that Prince Harry was “kept in the dark” about the Queen’s health decline before her death.
Endgame, set to be fully released later this month, is being touted as “a penetrating investigation into the current state of the British monarchy”. The book’s blurb states: “An unpopular king, a power-hungry heir to the throne, a queen willing to go to dangerous lengths to preserve her image, and a prince forced to start a new life after being betrayed by his own family.”
The cover of Endgame features three Royal couples – King Charles and Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and Prince Harry and Meghan. The promotional material labels Prince William as “power-hungry” and King Charles as “unpopular”.
HarperCollins, the publisher, previously mentioned that the book will “have the world talking” and Scobie said it will expose moments that royals should feel “ashamed of”. Chapter titles include: ‘Shaky Ground: The Queen is Dead, the Monarchy Faces Trouble’, ‘The Fall of Prince Andrew: Scandal, Shame and Silencing Jane Doe’, ‘Race and the Royals: Institutional Bigotry and Denial’, ‘Gloves On: Prince William, Heir to the Throne’, and ‘Gloves Off: Prince Harry, Man on a Mission’.
In the book’s description, the publisher adds: “On September 8, 2022, the world stood still as news broke of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. Her death dismantled the protective shield around the world’s most famous family and saw a long-simmering crisis of confidence in the British monarchy begin to resurface.”
