Prince William set to return to work just hours after Prince Harry's bombshell news

William will visit Surplus to Supper, a surplus food redistribution charity, in Sunbury-on-Thames, where he will help volunteers who sort and redistribute food at the charity’s hub at Sunbury Cricket Club to load deliveries into their vans.

He will also lend a hand in the kitchen by joining the team of chefs as they prepare meals. The heir to the throne will then head to a youth centre in west London which benefits from the organisation’s regular deliveries.

Kensington Palace said the prince is undertaking this week’s engagements to shine a spotlight on the organisation’s community and environmental impact.

A spokesperson said: “Protecting the environment for future generations is one of the Prince of Wales’s key priorities.”

It marks his first engagement since March 20, as he took a short break from duties to spend time with Kate and their children during the Easter holidays.

The Princess of Wales appealed for her family to have time, space and privacy, when she announced in a video message to the nation on March 22 that she had begun chemotherapy.

The undisclosed form of cancer was discovered in post-operative tests following her major abdominal surgery in January.

Last week William took his eldest son Prince George, 10, to watch an Aston Villa football match – his first public outing since Kate’s announcement.
