Prince William left 'bewildered' by Princess Kate's 'sudden' hospital admission

Prince William was likely left “bewildered” by the Princess of Wales’s sudden hospital admission last week. The Princess of Wales, 42, was admitted to The London Clinic in Marylebone on January 16, and will remain there for up to a fortnight.

The following day – on January 17 – Kensington Palace confirmed that Princess Kate had undergone “planned” abdominal surgery – which they also shared, via their statement, had been successful.

Much like the Princess of Wales – who will not return to duty until after Easter – the Prince of Wales has also taken time away from royal duty.

William and Kate are keen for life to remain normal as normal as possible for their three children, meaning that the Prince of Wales will focus solely on them whilst their mum is in hospital.

Speaking of William, one royal expert spoke to OK! about how he will likely be coping.

Royal expert Jennie Bond said: “He’ll be feeling emotional, stressed and probably rather bewildered by this sudden turn of events.”

Ms Bond also spoke on how the couple’s three children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five – will also likely be feeling at this time.

She said: “Keeping the routine going is important. But they are certain to be feeling a bit confused.”

Ms Bond added: “William is, sadly, perfectly placed to help. He knows exactly how it feels to be worried about your mum, and, in his case, to lose her.

“So he will be taking extra care to reassure the children and tell them as much, or as little, as he judges they need to hear.”

At present, it remains uncertain if George, Charlotte and Louis have visited their mum in hospital.

The expert added: “I’m sure that as soon as it is appropriate, William will take them to see her in hospital, because children need that kind of face-to-face reassurance. They’ll be FaceTiming a lot, I’m sure and showing them that Mum’s alright.”
