Prince William is 'brilliant' for the throne as he makes 'dignified' appearance at BAFTAS

Prince William has been praised by a royal expert who compared him favourably to his younger estranged brother Prince Harry, as he attended the BAFTAS solo on Sunday night.

Last weekend the Prince walked the red carpet chatting to celebrities and members of the public without the support of Princess Kate, who underwent abdominal surgery in January and is still recovering.

Royal author Angela Levin told GB News how “brilliant” William was playing his role as heir to the throne, particularly as his father King Charles is battling cancer.

She said: “The contrast between him and his own brother couldn’t be more stark. Well, he’s so dignified, he was appearing as if nothing was wrong. He didn’t want to spoil it for other people.

“He didn’t want to look harassed or miserable or concerned, he wanted to be in that job. He’s been principal since 2010, and he wanted to do what is expected of him, his shoes shone brilliantly.”

She added: “He looked very smart. He was smiling and he was very respectable. And you think if he’s an heir to the throne, that’s absolutely brilliant. Particularly given the fact that his wife is still recuperating at home from a major operation and that his father has been diagnosed with cancer.

“But he obviously thought that’s not what I take to my work. I’m going to do it thoroughly and properly and make sure that the people who’ve put all the effort into acting and filming actually come out of it feeling satisfied.”

William and Queen Camilla have both stepped up to the mark recently as their spouses recover out of the spotlight, although for the Prince it has been somewhat of a juggling act.

Following news of Kate’s surgery William took a short break from royal duties to take care of her and their three young children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The Princess is not expected to be back at work until Easter at the earliest, however she felt well enough to spend a week at their Norfolk home Anmer Hall over February half-term.

Queen Camilla too has been spending a lot of time with the King as he rests at Sandringham, travelling to London each week for his out-patient treatments.
