Prince William 'expressed concern' after soldiers fainted in heat during parades

Prince William has reportedly expressed concern over the working conditions of guardsmen after several collapsed amid sweltering heat in recent weeks.

The Prince of Wales was visibly disturbed after witnessing three faint in 30C temperatures as he led the Colonel’s Review at Horse Guard’s Parade a fortnight ago.

The ceremony involved 1,400 soldiers carrying out complex battlefield drill manoeuvres to military music while wearing wool tunics and bearskin hats.

The baking heat proved too much for some as at least three soldiers fainted and were taken off on stretchers while two more were helped off the parade ground.

William acknowledged the “difficult conditions” in a tweet he personally signed with his initial.

He wrote: “A big thank you to every solider (sic) who took part in the Colonel’s Review this morning in the heat. Difficult conditions but you all did a really good job. Thank you. W.”

A further two fell ill a week later at the Trooping of the Colour and the Order of the Garter ceremony.

A source has now told The Mirror that William expressed concern about the soldiers’ health and was later informed about their conditions.

“He made it clear he is keen to see measures in place to support teams on parade,” the source revealed.

The Army said none needed hospital care. Kensington Palace declined to comment.
