Prince William and Princess Kate plan George's next move in 'single-sex school' dilemma

Prince William and Princess Kate are reportedly considering Prince George’s next move as the weigh up the pros and cons of a “single-sex school” for the next stage of his education.

The young prince, who is second in line to the throne, was recently spotted at Eton College where Prince William attended – but the family may also be considering other options.

Writing for MailOnline, Richard Eden said: “The Princess of Wales is so committed to her children’s education that she stayed at home while Prince William was in Singapore for his Earthshot Prize awards earlier this month so she could support Prince George as he prepared for school exams.

“Now, I hear, the couple face a dilemma over where to send their elder son for the next stage of his education.”

Princess Kate is supposedly “not a fan” of single-sex schools, a family friends of the Waleses reportedly told Mr Eden, who added: “She did not enjoy her time at Downe House, but loved it at Marlborough College.”

It is believed that the Princess of Wales was the target of bullies at Downe House, an all-girls boarding school in Berkshire where she endured two miserable terms when she was a teenager.

She was delighted to move to Marlborough College, a co-educational boarding school in Wiltshire, where she excelled in the classroom as well as on the sports field before she went on to St Andrews University, where she met her future husband Prince William.

In June, Prince George paid a visit to his father’s alma mater Eton College — which was also attended by Prince Harry and Hollywood stars including Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne and Bear Grylls.

But in October, the Princess of Wales was spotted an hour away visiting a different esteemed school studded with centuries-old brick buildings: her alma mater, the coed Marlborough College.

While a student at Marlborough, she played field hockey and was the captain of the team. Her sister Pippa Middleton also attended Marlborough, as did her brother James Middleton.

Princess Eugenie, too, was a pupil at the boarding school.
