Prince William and Princess Kate 'hostile' toward Prince Harry and Meghan after Spare

The fallout between the Wales and Sussex camps intensified this year when deeply personal experiences between both Prince Harry and Prince William were made public in Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare.

The Duke of Sussex detailed the conflict between him and the Prince of Wales, as well as their feuding wives Meghan and Kate, even including details of a physical altercation between him and William.

The book, alongside the release of Omid Scobie’s book Endgame, which branded Kate a “part-time working royal” due to her commitment to the upbringing of her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, have left relations between the families at an all time low.

King Charles would have hoped to reunite the family this Christmas at Sandringham, which seemed possible following reports of warming relations between the King and Harry and Meghan, but the fallout from Omid Scobie’s book seems to have deepened the rift.

King Charles would have hoped to reunite the family this Christmas at Sandringham, which seemed possible following reports of warming relations between the King and Harry and Meghan, but the fallout from Omid Scobie’s book seems to have deepened the rift.

According to a new report from Katie Nicholl in Vanity Fair, the Waleses don’t “want to be in the same room” as Harry and Meghan “let alone spend Christmas with them.”

A royal insider told Nicholl: “The king would love nothing more than to have Christmas with his sons and all his grandchildren, but it’s not that simple and there is no chance the Sussexes will be coming.

“It would make things very difficult because there is still so much hostility towards Harry and Meghan, particularly from the Prince and Princess of Wales,” writes Nicholl.

King Charles received a 75th birthday call from the Sussexes, which was said to be pleasant, and boosted talks of a potential reunion between Harry and Meghan and the royals – though reports suggest there hasn’t been much contact between both parties since the King’s birthday.

There are suggestions the lack of contact could be due to Charles’s fear that communication between him and Harry could be leaked.

“Charles is also deeply nervous about the risks of conversations being leaked by the Sussex camp,” a source has told Nicholls, which is “why there have been very few of them.”

Prince Harry has shown some interest in potentially reuniting with his family, returning to the UK this year on multiple occasions, including for the King’s Coronation, his impending court cases and the WellChild Awards.

Meghan is said not to be interested in returning to the UK, as Omid Scobie detailed the feeling of the Duchess of Sussex in his Endgame book,

Scobie wrote that Meghan “never really felt at home” in the UK, and “never wants to step foot in England again”, following the couple’s departure from royal duties.
