Prince William and Kate's popularity in US soars following response to Omid Scobie chaos

The future King and Queen have been commended for their dignity during a rocky period for the Royal Family.

Gareth Russell, a royal commentator said that audiences in the US are ditching Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in favour of Princess Kate and Prince William.

This comes after weeks of intense pressure on the Royal Family following the release of Omid Scobie’s book Endgame.

The book dominated headlines last week after a version of his book published in the Netherlands named two senior royals who had held discussions about the skin colour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child, Prince Archie.

Despite the pressure, the Prince and Princess of Wales have not issued any statement about the claims made by the royal author.

Mr Russell told GB News: “The Waleses have been very impressive. Certainly, the coverage in the overseas media, including the American media is very favourable to the Prince and Princess of Wales at the moment.

“When they turned up with the Crown Princess of Sweden and her husband Prince Daniel at the Royal Variety Performance two days after Endgame broke for the press, you could tell from the audience’s reaction there was a lot of support for them.

“But also the Prince and Princess of Wales seem very close, we saw them arriving holding hands, which is a gesture of affection and support.

The Daily Express has chosen not to name the two individuals.

Mr Scobie initially denied responsibility for the naming blunder but has now accepted he did include the names in an ‘early’ copy provided to Dutch publishers for translation.

Meanwhile, a new poll for DailyMail.com reveals that the Princess of Wales was a runaway winner as the favourite royal in the US.

Kate scored a 44 percent positivity rating while her husband, William, is second with 36 percent.

Harry has a score of 28 percent and Meghan is further behind on 21 percent.

The poll of 1,000 Americans was carried out between November 30 and December 1, during the backlash to Endgame.
