Prince William and Kate ranked most popular royals as King trails behind in fourth

The Prince and Princess of Wales are the most popular members of the Royal Family, new polling results show.

In a new study carried out by Ipsos, and taken just as King Charles and Princess Kate recover from hospital procedures, reports show 62 percent of those surveyed believe Prince William is the most popular member of the Royal Family.

There has also been no change in his popularity, since June 2023, according to the study, meaning the public’s opinion of Prince William is unwavering.

Edging closely and in second place is Princess Kate, who gained 61 percent of the public vote with a rise of three percent compared with last year’s polling.

The Princess of Wales is currently recovering at home in Windsor after leaving hospital last week, following “planned abdominal surgery” on January 16 and being in hospital for 13 nights.

Prince William cleared his diary and had taken time off to support his family while she recovered, but it has since been announced he will return to royal duties on Wednesday.

When he returns to his engagements, he will undertake an investiture at Windsor Castle and then attend the London Air Ambulance annual fundraising gala in the evening.

The Prince of Wales is patron of the London Air Ambulance and is a former air ambulance pilot.

Ipsos polling also showed King Charles was ranked fourth in the popularity rating, gaining 50 percent of the public vote, one place behind Princess Anne, with 56 percent of the votes.

Over half, 51 percent, of the public believe King Charles is doing a good job as King. The reigning monarch recently underwent a procedure at The London Clinic to treat an enlarged prostate.

Whilst he recovered, Queen Camilla carried out a series of solo events last week, including meeting a Strictly Come Dancing star in Cambridge, where she was gifted a pair of her own tap shoes.

King Charles is thought to have wanted to share the news of his medical treatment in the hope of encouraging other men to get themselves checked.

NHS England said the “enlarged prostate” page on the NHS website received one visit every five seconds on the day his diagnosis was announced, a result which has been welcomed by medics.
