Prince Louis stands to attention in front of huge nutcracker as he makes carol debut

Prince Louis has made his debut appearance at his mum Kate’s annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey, where he appeared to be completely taken by a large nutcracker-style toy soldier.

The youngster stood to attention in front of the large Christmas decoration, which was almost twice his height.

His siblings Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 8, also attended alongside their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales. George and Charlotte both attended the service last year.

Louis, 5, was pictured holding hands with dad Prince William as they walked inside the Abbey, while Charlotte held mum Kate’s.

All three children posted letters to Santa before the service began. The postbox is a new feature this year and is made for children to send handmade Christmas cards and best wishes to other youngsters who might be struggling this festive season.

Louis looked adorable in a navy coat over the top of what appeared to be a navy suit. George was also in a suit, while Charlotte wore a cute maroon coat dress.

His debut comes as the youngster, beloved by royal fans due to his cheeky antics, has made a number of milestones over the past 12 months.

He joined the Royal Family at church on Christmas Day for the first time last year and has attended a number of key events such as King Charles’s Coronation in May, Trooping the Colour and the Easter Sunday church service.

The youngster is a fan favourite after his behaviour at the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, where he pulled faces and behaved rather mischievously in front of the world’s cameras.

Tonight’s carol service, supported by The Royal Foundation, will honour those who work to support babies, young children and families in communities across the UK.

Linked to Kate’s Shaping Us campaign, the service will showcase “the hope of new life and why it is so important to build supportive, nurturing worlds around children and the adults in their lives”.

The Westminster Abbey choir will perform popular carols, alongside musical performances by the likes of Jacob Collier, Freya Ridings and James Bay, and a special duet by Beverley Knight and Adam Lambert.

Readings will be given by speakers including the Prince of Wales, Micheal Ward, Emma Willis, Roman Kemp, and Jim Broadbent, while a specially commissioned poem written by Joseph Coelho, the Children’s Laureate, will be read by Leonie Elliott.
