Prince Harry's one biggest thought as he watched William marry Princess Kate

Prince Harry had a chilling thought as he arrived at Westminster Abbey to watch his brother, Prince William, marry Kate Middleton.

The brothers, who are now embroiled in a bitter feud, were once inseparable, supporting each other through the heartbreak of their mother Princess Diana’s funeral and sharing happier times together.

One such happy occasion was nearly 14 years ago when William married Kate, now the Princess of Wales.

Harry stood by his older brother’s side on his big day in April 2011, accompanying him to the venue and standing with him at the altar as Kate walked down the aisle in her stunning Alexander McQueen dress.

But, according to his controversial memoir Spare, Harry had a haunting thought as he arrived to watch his brother marry his future sister-in-law. He recalls the car journey with William from Clarence House to the venue on the big day. Notably, Westminster Abbey was not only the wedding venue but also the location of Diana’s funeral held 14 years earlier in September 1997.

Harry wrote: “I peered out of the window: Westminster Abbey. As always, my stomach lurched. I thought: Nothing like getting married in the same place where you did your mum’s funeral. I shot a glance at Willy. Was he thinking the same thing?”

The Royal brothers, William and Harry, are leading very different lives now. William and Kate are senior members of the monarchy with three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

On the other hand, Harry resides in California with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, after their dramatic exit as working royals.

Their relationship is reportedly almost non-existent following claims made by Harry about his brother in his memoir, including an allegation of physical assault.

However, Royal biographer Ingrid Seward suggests that the brothers were never close to begin with. Speaking on True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat, she said: “They painted this lovely picture that they were great friends, but they weren’t. There was always huge rivalry between them.

“They were never really great friends and I can’t see [them coming back together] until maybe many, many years in the future. If disaster struck one or other of them, that would bring them together. But I cannot see it happening [otherwise].”
