Prince Harry can “no longer rely on” the Royal Family for one particular reason, according to one of his former pals.
The Duke of Sussex has been estranged from his family ever since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, quit their royal duties back in 2020 and moved to the US.
Ever since then, they went on to make a series of bombshell claims about the royals and their handling of them through a series of interviews, their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan and Harry’s memoir Spare.
The rift between the two camps has been deepened even further after the Sussexes’ links to figures attacking the Firm like author Omid Scobie, who’s released two explosive books about the royals, Finding Freedom and Endgame, however, Harry and Meghan tried to distance themselves from the latter.
But now, one of Harry’s former polo friends has come out and suggested that after his explosive claims, the duke can’t rely on his family and he pinpointed a key reason for it.
Using the pseudonym Edward Charles Featherstone, he told the Mirror: “I think not having a close connection to your parents for whatever reason, whether you are royalty as in the case of William and Harry, or if you’ve lost a parent as did William and Harry, if your father is the future King of England, all of those things creates an independence.”
He added that this would have meant Harry doesn’t have “the bosom of [his] family to kind of lean back on, to rely on” and that it must have been very difficult for the King’s younger son.
Meanwhile, despite Harry’s ongoing rift with members of his family, the duke dashed back home last week following Charles’s shock cancer announcement.
Harry travelled to the UK on Tuesday morning, and after having a brief chat with his father at Clarence House, left the next day to return to his family in California, in just a little over 24 hours.
The duke is expected to return to England in May for the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, according to a source.
He is to set attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. A source told the Times: “Harry has indicated that he is comfortable coming back for a British-based Invictus Games and we understand that the Games have always had the support of the rest of the royal family.”
