Prince Harry’s new Netflix series presents 'opportunity' with King Charles

Prince Harry is working on a new Netflix series, which revolves around polo, and may be of interest to King Charles, says one royal biographer.

Charles grew up playing polo, which he picked up from his father, Prince Philip, and then introduced to his two sons, Prince Harry and Prince Wililam.

Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith sees this as an opportunity for Harry to mend fences with his father, which she writes about in her Royals Extra newsletter.

She says: “While the series will cover the contemporary polo scene, mostly unknown to the average television viewer, it could be much enriched by showing how Harry’s own family has been involved with polo for more than a century.”

Ms Bedell Smith doesn’t expect King Charles or Prince William to be appear in the series, but there is “plenty of film footage available.”

The royals’ love of polo began with King Edward VII. He didn’t play the sport, but was a fan, and from there, his son, and grandsons, and great grandsons, took to the field.

King George V played polo, as did his sons, Edward, Albert, Henry, and George, followed by Prince Philip, Princess Elizabeth’s husband and their son, Charles.

There is a reason polo is referred to as “the sport of kings.”

We’ve yet to see Prince George, heir to the throne, on a pony with a mallet, but he’s only 10, Charles was 15 when he started competing.
